Hi Sara,
I have had measles whooping cough that I know of , as I am 47 I assume I must have had most of them and like you it was a week off school and we had a great time. I guarantee you when our children grow up they will talk about chicken pox being a killer disease. My sons are 7 and 8 and have had no injections or antibiotics - then again they have never been sick other than the odd cold. Sometimes I meet up with my friends and when we discuss our kids I feel very left out because they are all tallking about hospital and doctor visits which seem to be continuous with their children. I am told I am lucky however I don't believe this because my neighbours child is unvaccinated and he is never sick either. They both got whooping cough which lasted 4 months but I didn't realise what it was at the time because they appeared so healthy just this horrible cough which lasted seconds and then back to normal. As I don't have a family doctor I didn't bring them to one and I kept thinking it would go away and as they weren't sick I didn't worry too much. By the time I decided to do something about it it stopped!! Whooping cough was always my worst fear when I decided not to vaccinate. I felt i was travelling into the unknown with very little support. Most parents think you are irresponsible for not vaccinating so it does not make for comfortable conversation. Everything the doctor says is taken as gospel. There is a book on this website called ' How to keep your children healthy in spite of your doctor'. I have raised my children on it and it is worth getting - gives great reassurance. However because I have taken this route I am very conscientious about the food they eat. Anyway nice talking to you - it will be nice to exchange notes with someone!

| Hi sara, I've just discovered this website and am delighted about it.
I have a 5month old son and my partner and I had more or less decided that we weren't going to vaccinate before he was born. We did do some research but intuition alone informed me that it can't be a good thing to inject a tiny, tiny baby with all those substances not once, or twice but three months running!! Give the boy a chance! So my dear you are not alone.
Like eleanor I have observed anecdotally how the non vaccintated kids in my circle of friends seem to suffer less and less severe illnesses than the "jabbed" ones. Respiratory infections seem to be more common and more severe in the jabbed. Then further hammering of the immune system takes place with endless administering of anti-biotics. One little chap I know has had antibiotics 4 times already and he's not 2 years old yet.
Don't get me wrong i'm not saying its an easy decision and i am aware of my responsibilities in terms of my son's immune system, ie breastfeeding til at least 1 year and healthy organic foods etc. He had his first cold last month and I immediately worried about whooping cough and questioned my decision. However the little fella remained determinedly cheerful throughout his ordeal and recovered in no time at all.
I was pleasantly surprised by the GP and health visitor who were both very respectful (if not downright supportive) of my decision. I often don't discuss my decision with other parents as I can't be bothered to get into an argument about how irresponsible I am. However I may direct future assailants to this website and leave it at that! |

| dear richard, thank you thank you thank you for all this information and work. As the mother of a 5 month old baby I have only managed to skim read this but intend to print it and file it to examine more closely when my brain decides to return ( or when I get some sleep, whichever happens first). |

Thank you Frankie, all I did was put my dissertation on the internet and did not think much about it, then someone told me it was in the top four on Google so I decided to make it relevant to the information that we were lacking when the girls got the whooping cough.
All the vaccination sites refer to the awfull things that happen to children who do or dont vaccinate. I know all these wonderfull children who have not been vaccinated, none of them will end up on "Super Nanny" their stories of wellbeing is what will make people think twice and envy what you have. So next time you post I want your story and a picture of your healthy little boy. |

Hi Sara,
You are not the only one! I know how you feel, it is so difficult to find anyone who shares the opinion that vaccination is definitely not for the best (I have found it difficult anyway). I also had measles and whooping cough as a child. I strongly beleive the overall health of the child determines how seriously they are affected by whatever disease they may catch. If they are healthy, well nourished etc and the disease is not suppressed, then they should get through it ok. I am 29 too and have a 5 month old son, he has not been vaccinated and the only worries I have are the confrontations I may have to face from Doctors and Health Visitors because of my decision not to vaccinate. |
